Simon Goulding

Simon Goulding is currently working on an article about the firemen writers of the Second World War, as well as on Berlin Alexanderplatz and the London of Neal Stephenson and Thomas Pynchon. He is a regular contributor to Literary London.

Clive E. Hill

Clive E. Hill teaches intellectual and political history for the University of London International Programme. As well as his interest in middlebrow literature, he has wide-ranging research interests in various aspects of social and political thought in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Nick Hubble

Nick Hubble is Senior Lecturer in English at Brunel University. He is the editor or co-editor of three other collections about London: ‘Intermodern London’, Literary London, 7: 1, March 2009; (with Michael O’Brien), ‘Liminal London’, a special issue of EnterText, 8, Spring, 2010; and (with Philip Tew and Lynn Wells) London in Contemporary British Fiction: Beyond the City?, London: Continuum, forthcoming in 2013.

Kate Macdonald

Kate Macdonald teaches poetry and British literary culture in the Department of Literature: English Studies, at Ghent University, Belgium. She has published several books, chapters and articles on the fiction, social history and print culture of the late Victorian,Edwardian and interwar periods. Her most recent book is the edited volume The Masculine Middlebrow: What Mr Miniver Read, 1880-1950 (Palgrave Macmillan, 2011).

Peter Preston

Peter Preston is Honorary Lecturer in English Studies at the University of Nottingham, where he was formerly Director of Continuing Education. His main research interests are in D. H. Lawrence and Arnold Bennett, but he has also published work on Dickens, Katherine Mansfield, William Morris, Iris Murdoch, William Shakespeare and a number of contemporary novelists.

Christoph Singer

Christoph Singer teaches English Literature and Cultural Studies at the University of Paderborn. Currently he is working on his PHD-project which examines the beach as a literary setting in Colonial and Post-Colonial Literature.

Susie Thomas

Susie Thomas edited A Reader’s Guide to Hanif Kureishi (Palgrave, 2005).
